Basic pancake recipe.
Basic pancake batter is one of the easiest to make.
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 egg white
1 ¼ cup skim milk
4 tablespoons cold water
Beat the flour, egg white, milk and water until smooth. To make pancakes, heat a film of oil in a nonstick skillet. Put about 3 tablespoons of dough and tilt the pan until the dough rotates to cover the entire base of the pan. Cook for about 45 seconds until the base is firm, then lift the edges with a spatula, check to see if the base is evenly browned. If so, shake the pan to loosen the pancake, and then flip the pan over to flip.
This requires a bit of finesse, so turn it around with a spatula to begin with.
Cook the other side for another 30 seconds, then slide it onto a plate and fill it with the filling option.
Another option is to sprinkle fruit on top before it sets completely. This is a great idea for healthy food breakfast.
Banana syrup and mayple pancake recipe
Make the pancake as directed above.
For the filling you need:
4 sliced bananas
¼ cup maple syrup
Juice and peel of a lemon
Mix these ingredients (except the crust) and simmer for about a minute.
Spoon over open pancakes and fold into quarters. Sprinkle with the shell to decorate
